A Prospective, Multi-Centered Clinical Study To Assess The Safety and Effectiveness of the Impliant TOPS™ System

This study involves research into the safety and effectiveness of an experimental artificial implant, called The TOPS™ System that replaces the joints that lie in between the vertebrae of the spine. These joints (the "facet joints") can become diseased and break down (a condition known as "facet arthrosis"). The breakdown of these joints can lead to "degenerative spondylolisthesis", in which the vertebrae become loose and move in an unusual manner. The breakdown of the facet joints can also cause "spinal stenosis", in which the vertebrae press on the nerves in the spine, causing pain. By replacing diseased facet joints, the TOPS™ System is intended to treat pain caused by degenerative spondylolisthesis and spinal stenosis.
