Dr. Fabien Bitan is a Spine Surgeon, practicing in New York City.
- Dr. Bitan completed an extensive international training, first in Paris, France then in New York at the Hospital for Special Surgery and at Beth Israel Medical Center. He participates in humanitarian causes "Children of China" (directed by Dr. David Roye of Columbia University), offering medical evaluation and treatment to young Chinese orphans suffering from severe spine deformities. He participates in humanitarian missions (children of China Pediatric Foundation CCPF), in FDA research studies (Charite Disc, Kineflex, Dynesis) and in the Lenox Hill Teaching program.
- Dr. Bitan's experience includes scoliosis in children and adults as well as degenerative disc disease of the lower back and of the neck.
- Over the last few years, minimally invasive surgery has occupied a growing role in the treatment of spine conditions. In selected cases, it enables a quicker recovery and provides a better outcome. Dr. Bitan was one of the first surgeons in New York City to adopt minimally endoscopic techniques in the late 1990s at Beth Israel Medical Center.
- Dr Bitan also pioneered the introduction of artificial disc technology in the United States in 1999. He was the Principal Investigator in New York for the FDA study of the "Charité disc."
